Nathan Ingram

Project Title: Obscure and Reveal

Locations:

Various and changing locations across the central city.

Description:

Nathan Ingram’s striking studio work is undeniably influenced by his work on the streets and the impact of the urban environment. His ‘squiggle motif’ has become a way to both reveal and obscure and for the Little Street Art Festival, the bold forms serve to do so across the urban terrain, raising questions around what we come to value amidst the cityscape. By highlighting parts of the city through his squiggle forms, we are drawn to see things in fresh ways, or more literally, through fresh frames.

Bio:

Nathan Ingram is an Ōtautahi artist and gallery owner who has fashioned a distinctive place for himself, straddling the worlds of fine art and the urban setting. First emerging in the post-quake landscape with a series of touching and inquisitive paste-ups and interventions, his works have since pushed in new directions both in studio and street outputs, fascinated with process that embraces both chaos and order, clarity and obfuscation.
