Bloom
Project Title: Little Street Blooms.
Location:
Rolleston Avenue and Cambridge Terrace bridge
Description:
Step into the unpredictable enchantment of "Little Street Blooms," where the real and dream blooms intertwine in a playful dance of colours and forms. Each bloom, whether a tangible reality or a product of dreamy imagination, carries an element of surprise. Encounter whimsical flowers that defy expectations. Embrace the fun and spontaneity as you explore, never knowing what charming bloom awaits, making every moment a delightful discovery in this playful fusion of reality and dreams. Urban gardener Bloom will add a sense of vibrancy to the city with her painted blooms occupying planter beds across various points of Ōtautahi. The two-dimensional wooden blooms will be ‘planted’ into existing greenery, their thoughtful colour combinations and varying sizes adding an alternative presence to an array of urban green spaces, while also commenting on the endurance, variety and quirkiness of nature. At the heart of Bloom’s work is the example of nature in encouraging everyone to bloom – her flowers drawing from nature’s determination to exist in areas where it is often denied.
